3D Connection's Space Pilot Pro

Navigation Setting KeysDuring the course of developing 3D models, designers may want to restrict navigation to certain planes or axis. For example, when creating 2D sketches of 3D profiles, it is useful to be able to pan and zoom but not rotate the view. The SpacePilot PRO navigation setting keys allow users to personalize how the controller cap works by restricting navigation to certain axis. The status of each navigation settings key is displayed in the LCD Function Key Applet.
Dominant keyDominant mode filters out all motion except for data coming from the axis that is being actuated the most.Pan and zoom keyTurn off translation motion along the three primary axes so the model can only be rotated.Rotation keyBy turning rotation off, users can focus on smooth, simultaneous pan-and-zoom navigation only. This is ideal for work modes such as sketching or for quickly inspecting standard views of your model.Speed KeyAdjusting the SpacePilot PRO navigation speed, changes the amount of force or torque that needs to be applied to the controller to move a model or environment. Lower the speed for detailed, close-up work and increase the speed for design reviews and presentations.

Intelligent Function KeysEach MCAD application environment, such as sketch, part or assembly has its own set of tools and processes. SpacePilot PRO automatically recognizes the active application and environment and assigns 10 relevant application commands to its dual-function Intelligent Function Keys. Visual feedback on function key assignment is provided by the color LCD. This seamless process ensures the right tools are available at the right time and as there's no need to use the standard mouse or keyboard to select the commands, users experience a significantly streamlined workflow.
A short press activates the keys primary function (1 - 5).
Press and hold the key to activate its secondary function ( 6 - 10).
Users can easily customise the SpacePilot PRO Intelligent Function Keys to their own preference. In addition, all other function keys (excluding the LCD keys) can be customised giving users the opportunity to assign up to 31 commands.
Keyboard ModifiersThe convenient Ctrl, Shift, Alt and Esc keys allow users to simultaneously navigate their 3D model while accessing special application functionality or editing capabilities. This significantly reduces the need to move the hand from SpacePilot PRO to the keyboard, resulting in a more optimized workflow.Standard 3D Mouse keysThe FIT key instantly restores the active model to the center of the screen while the MENU key opens the 3DxWare™ or application specific control panel for accessing essential SpacePilot PRO settings.

Kyocera EOS Flexible Folding Phone

Kyocera's EOS folding concept phone incorporates a flexible OLED screen, changing its form factor from a clamshell into something more closely resembling a wallet or clutch-purse. Explains Kyocera industrial designer Susan McKinney:The concept Eos envisions a future where we have a more humanistic relationship with our phones. Appealing to our haptic senses, a soft, semi-rigid polymer skin surrounds a flexible OLED display. The metaphor of a "living" skin was used for its notions of protection and constant evolution, providing a heightened user experience. Shape memory allows keys to morph up from its surface when needed and fade away when not in use. The flexibility of the screen allows for greater adaptability of form and interaction – it maintains a compact shape (the size of a small wallet) for simple phone calls, and unfolds to reveal a large widescreen display. The device feeds off of our physical interaction with it, translating kinetic energy into an electric charge via an array of nano-scale piezoelectric generators. The more we interact with Eos, the more energy it creates - without using batteries.Though the Kyocera future concepts are still in their early design stages, the design teams from San Diego and Bangalore are exploring many different ways and possibilities of infusing some of the concept ideas into their near future lineup of phones and devices.concept phone incorporates a flexible OLED screen, changing its form factor from a clamshell into something more closely resembling a wallet or clutch-purse. Apple bites back at Laptop Hunter ads, agrees with Microsoft that Macs are cool

Looks like Apple finally has something to say to Lauren, Giampaulo, Lisa, Jackson, and any future laptop hunters showcased in Microsoft's new commercial series. In a statement to Macworld, spokesperson Bill Evans goes through the usual list of touted Mac features -- security, stability, design -- before quipping, "a PC is no bargain when it doesn't do what you want." Ouch. He continues by "agreeing" with Microsoft that, yes, everyone does think its computers are cool. We don't expect Redmond's ready to end the ad campaign anytime, and as enjoyable as this statement is, our only hope is that the gang at Cupertino ups the ante and retaliates tit-for-tat by sending Hodgman on an filmed adventure through Best Buy

T-Mobile Sidekick LX officially announced all over again

Sound familiar? Indeed, this isn't the first time T-Mobile has offered a Sidekick LX -- but much like last year's simply-named Sidekick, the carrier is once again carrying forward branding while totally revamping the hardware. The 2009 edition of the Sidekick LX is thoroughly new and pretty much nails every item on every Sidekick fan's wishlist: GPS, 3G data, an absolutely glorious 3.2-inch full wide VGA display, and super-tight integration with Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace. You've also got a 3.2 megapixel AF camera with LED flash, microSD expansion (T-Mobile throws a 1GB card in the box), video recording and playback (including YouTube access), stereo Bluetooth, quadband EDGE, and HSDPA 2100 for high-speed coverage when you're galavanting around Europe. The ace up T-Mobile's sleeve, though, might be Exchange ActiveSync support, which will be coming via the on-device software catalog shortly after launch. It's available for pre-sale to current T-Mobile customers starting today -- everyone else will have to wait until May 13 -- but either way, you'll be paying $199.99 after rebate on contract in your choice of "carbon" or "orchid" finishes. Check out all the snazzy photography below -- and follow the break for our quick first impressions of the phone.

Cadillac's latest concept is a car that runs on clean Thorium nuclear fuel. It also has maintenance-free service for a century or more. What's more, each wheel of this cool car actually consists of 6 individually powered wheels aligned side by side. That's 26 wheels all in all. WTF! No, we're not using Internet lingo here. Cadillac's newest design, the World Thorium Fuel, features things that make it rise above the others.

The extremely unique Cadillac WTF concept was designed by Loren Kulesus to put in the spotlight a car with virtually zero maintenance requirements, one that functions for 100 years or so, and one that has wheels that you won't ever replace. Cadillac WTF's proposed power source, thorium, is the number 90 on your chemistry class' periodic table of elements.

Sorry to disappoint you, but the Cadillac WTF is just a concept. It won't be available anytime soon. But if you can wait until the next millennium or a millennium after that, you just might be able to drive one. In the meantime, drool over the stunning pictures of the concept car that are circulating in the Web.
